It all began with the Stumpblower!

Back in the day, our fun and feisty dad Ken (Silo) Smith created his potent signature Amaretto drink: The Stumpblower. Dad was quite a character. His love and laughter drew us together - so did his passion for building furniture (and enjoying the occasional Stumpblower)! The whole family loved sipping on dad's homemade Amaretto, and the Stumpblower became a family-wide tradition.

Our dad taught us so much. We brothers both grew up fixing things, tinkering with things, and building things. That's how it was in Michigan's thumb: You learned how to make what you needed and you learned how to fix it. Over the years, we became better and better at making furniture: true craftsmen. Almost everyone we know has a piece of our custom furniture in their home. 

So, when we created our company and were looking for its name, we quickly realized: It had to be Stumpblower! It's a name that honors our father and the work ethic he instilled. And, of course, the name brings back so many great memories with dad.

Now, we design the furniture for a variety of clients to fit their needs, style, and other furniture pieces. Each piece is designed to fit the space and according to your requests. We start with a consultation to find out what you're looking for. Next, we send you design sketches and work together to finalize a design you love.
